The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar is positioned ahead of the entry-level Evoque but behind the Range Rover Sport and flagship Range Rover model in price. Additionally, the Velar has the same starting price as the new Land Rover Discovery.
The four-door Velar will come with a choice of three engines, a 177-hp, 317-lb-ft of torque 2.0-liter turbodiesel I-4, a 380-hp, 332-lb-ft 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 (shared with the Jaguar F-Pace), and a 247-hp, 269-lb-ft 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4. An eight-speed automatic transmission routes power to an all-wheel-drive system. Land Rover claims that the V-6 equipped Velar will hit 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.
The Velar First Edition (only to be sold during the first model year) is the most expensive Velar and comes standard with most of the options and features available on the Velar. The exterior sports a black contract roof with power sliding panoramic roof, LED headlights with Signature daytime running lights, 22-inch split-nine-spoke wheels with Diamond Turned finish, a First Edition badging, and auto-dimming, power-fold, heated doors mirrors with approach lights. The interior includes perforated Windsor leather, carbon fiber with copper wire door finishers, leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, 20-way adjustable heated and cooled front seats with massage, 1300-watt Meridian Signature Sound System with 23 speakers, a 12.3-inch high-definition driver display in the instrument panel, a head-up display, illuminated door sills, configurable ambient lighting, and Land Rover Touch Pro Duo (two 10-inch high-definition touchscreens).
The base Velar comes standard with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Trailer Stability Assist, Roll Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, Low Traction Launch, and six airbags. To get the most safety out of your Range Rover Velar, opt for the Drive Pro package that consists of adaptive cruise control with Queue Assist and Intelligent Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive Speed Limiter, Driver Condition Monitor, and Blind Spot Assist.
