PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY
The X4 xDrive28i is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine that produces 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and is backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. With standard all-wheel drive, the powertrain delivers an EPA-rated 20/28 mpg city/highway. The X4 M40i’s 355-hp, 343-lb-ft of torque 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 also comes paired with an eight-speed automatic and delivers 18/25 mpg. In Motor Trend testing, the X4 M40i hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds (xDrive28i in 6.2 seconds) and stopped from 60 mph in 120 feet (xDrive28i in 123 feet).
SAFETY
The X4 does not come standard with any driver assist safety features but opt for the Driving Assistance package and receive the Active Driving Assistant system (lane departure warning, frontal collision warning, city emergency automatic braking, and pedestrian protection), a head-up display, blind-spot monitoring, and speed limit information. The Driving Assistance Plus package adds adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality and extended automatic braking but the Driving Assistance package is required.
UTILITY (CARGO SPACE AND INTERIOR ROOM)
The BMW X4 xDrive28i offers 17.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up and 49.4 cubic feet with the rear seats down, the exact same amount of cargo space as the Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4Matic Coupe. Front passengers in the X4 receive 40.4 inches of front seat legroom and 34.8 inches in the rear seats.
