NEW 2022 Ram ProMaster Window Van
Available
When you’re after lots of passenger or cargo space, the usual choice is to go for an SUV, but if you’re running a business on the side and need even more, your only practical choice will be a van of some sort. Enter the 2022 Ram ProMaster Window Van, a vehicle that has windows but no factory-fitted rear seats. Powered by a 3.6-liter gasoline Pentastar V6 engine producing 280 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, the first generation of this front-wheel-drive van offers the bare essentials to get the job done. There’s little in the way of features and tech, and the ride is somewhat firm, but there’s lots of value for money, a solid towing capacity, and tons of configurations to go for. The competition includes the 2021 Ram ProMaster Window Van and the 2021 Ram ProMaster Window Van – since it’d need seats to be compared to a Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Passenger Van.
Engine and Transmission
You won’t find a turbocharged performance engine in this or any other review of the 2022 Ram ProMaster Window Van; instead, you get a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter 6-cylinder motor producing 280 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque on regular gas. The V6’s power is sent to the front wheels via a traditional 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine offers decent pull, even when fully loaded, but on slippery uphills, the front-wheel drivetrain counts against the ProMaster. The maximum towing capacity on the 2500 is 6,480 lbs, while the 3500 Extended will haul 6,410 lbs.
