The 2022 Audi A3 is a premium compact car offered in front- or all-wheel-drive configurations. In the lineup, the A3 is the entry-level sedan, slotting below the A4 sedan. A hatchback body style is also available in addition to the sedan but it’s only available as a plug-in hybrid.
Standard features on the base A3 include HID headlights, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, 12-way power seats, Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Options include a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, keyless entry/start, the Audi Drive Select system, LED headlights, Audi’s MMI system, navigation with a 7.0-inch retractable screen, the Virtual Cockpit system, a sport suspension, and alloy wheels up to 19 inches in diameter.
The S3 gets additional goodies like magnetic ride, S Sport seats with a fixed back, and red brake calipers.
The RS 3 can be had with a 174-mph top speed, a fixed sport suspension, carbon ceramic front brakes, RS sport exhausts, and staggered tires.
In terms of cargo space, sedans have a 12.3-cubic foot trunk while the A3 E-Tron hatch has 13.6 cubic feet behind the second row. Both the sedan and hatchback come with split-folding rear seats.
The 2022 Audi A3 received a five-star overall safety score from the NHTSA (out of a possible five stars). In IIHS evaluations, the 2022 A3 received a Good score on all crash tests, a Superior rating for front crash prevention after it avoided a 12- and 25-mph collision, and Average on the headlight test, giving it a Top Safety Pick+ rating (Good is the highest possible score). Standard on all Audi A3 models are forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. Higher trim levels can be optioned with lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, and rear cross-traffic alert
