An emotional, hot-blooded Italian sedan, the Giulia sets pulses racing even before you get behind the wheel. A 280-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive is standard in this 10 Best Cars winner. The 2022 Giulia is powered by a standard 2.0-liter turbo-four with 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque. Quadrifoglio models come with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 rated at 505 hp and 443 lb-ft. An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission available.

EPA fuel economy ratings for the 2022 model are 24/33 mpg city/highway for rear-drive models, 23/31 mpg with all-wheel drive, and 17/24 mpg for the powerful Quadrifoglio model

Safety

In IIHS tests of the 2022 model, the Alfa Romeo received a 2018 Top Safety Pick award. In the IIHS’ front crash prevention test, the 2020 Giulia earned a Superior rating after it avoided a collision in a 12-mph test and reduced the speed of a 25-mph impact by 24 mph (Superior is the highest score for the front crash prevention test).

Active safety tech including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams are available as part of the Driver Assist Dynamic Plus package. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are part of the Driver Assist Static with Front Sensors package, bundling it with front and rear parking sensors and auto-dimming mirrors.
