The X3 slots in the middle of BMW’s SUV lineup above the entry-level X1 but below the larger X5. The X3 is also positioned before the X4 and X6 SUV coupes. If you’d consider a wagon or hatchback, the BMW 3 Series is offered as a wagon and spacious four-door hatchback.

Overview

At first, the 2022 BMW X3 will be offered in two models, but expect more to join the lineup later. The standard X3 xDrive30i is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 that produces 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The quicker and more expensive X3 M40i utilizes a 3.0-liter turbocharged I-6 that cranks out 355 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic backs both engines and all-wheel drive is standard.

The 2022 BMW X3 will come standard with the new iDrive 6.0 system with the iDrive Controller and 10.25-inch touchscreen.  BMW Gesture Control, which involves making gestures with your hand to control various features (such as adjusting volume or skipping to the next track) is optional. The ParkNow service helps owners find parking spaces and pay for them as well. Additionally, the On-Street Parking Information service also assists in finding parking by using historical and current data to draw conclusions on parking availability. Additional features include a WiFi-hotspot offering LTE connection for up to 10 devices and Apple CarPlay can be used wirelessly. The Luxury package consists of two-tone front and rear bumper trim finishers, SensaTec upholstered dashboard, and a chrome kidney grille. The M Sport Packageincludes the M Aerodynamic kit, Shadowline exterior trim, 19-inch M wheels, M Sport steering wheel, and M door sills.

Safety

Two driving assist packages are available on the new 2022 X3. The regular Driving Assistance package includes Active Blind Spot Protection, lane departure warning, Daytime Pedestrian Protection, Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation, rear cross-traffic alert, and speed limit information. The Driving Assistant Plus package offers the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Lane Keep Assistant with Side Collision Avoidance, Traffic Jam Assistant, Evasion Aid and front and rear cross traffic alert.
