NEW 2022 Acura ILX
Model Overview
Slotting below the larger TLX is the Acura ILX, a compact premium sedan closely related to the ninth-generation Honda Civic with seating for five. In a way, the ILX is a successor to the RSX and the Integra compact cars that preceded and serves as the stepping stone to the Acura brand. Those looking for something a little different from the usual German suspects or want to move up to something more upscale but don’t want a large vehicle, you may want to give the ILX a closer look.
Overview
The front-drive ILX is offered with a single powertrain, a 201-hp, 180-lb-ft of torque 2.4-liter I-4 backed by an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The sedan delivers an EPA-rated 24/34 mpg city/highway and hit 60 mph in 6.8 seconds when we tested the 2022 model.
Safety
The 2022 Acura ILX received the highest overall rating of five stars from the NHTSA. In IIHS testing, the 2022 ILX received the highest rating of Good in all crash tests and the highest rating of Superior for the front crash prevention test because it reduced a 12-mph collision by 11 mph and reduced a 25-mph collision by 15 mph thanks to the automatic emergency braking feature found in the now standard Acura Watch driver-assist package. The package also includes forward collision warning, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available in the Premium and Technology trims.
