Performance

Powering the 2022 Cadillac XT5 is a 310-hp, 271-lb-ft of torque 3.6-liter V-6 paired to an eight-speed automatic. The engine sends power to the front wheels (EPA-rated 19/26 mpg city/highway) or to an all-wheel drive system (18/25 mpg). The Cadillac XT5 FWD hit 60 mph in quick 6.4 seconds (6.5 with AWD) and stopped from 60 mph in a somewhat lengthy 128 feet (but the AWD model stopped in a much shorter 111 feet). The crossover’s towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.

Safety

The Cadillac XT5 is considered a 2022 Top Safety Pick from the IIHS for receiving the highest rating of Good in all five crash test evaluations and the highest rating of Superior for front crash prevention for properly warning the driver of a possible accident, avoiding a 12 mph collision, and reducing the speed of a 25 mph collision by 24 mph thanks to the optional Front Automatic Braking driver assist safety feature found in the Driver Assist package. With only the optional Low-Speed Automatic braking equipped (found in the Luxury Driver Awareness package or standard on the Premium Luxury model), the second highest score of Advanced was issued because the crossover was only able to reduce the speed of the 25 mph collision by 9 mph. In NHTSA crash testing, the 2022 XT5 AWD received the highest five-star overall rating and the FWD version received a four-star overall rating. The Driver Awareness package (available on lower trims) also consists of IntelliBeam headlights, Forward Collision Alert, a flowing distance indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Front Pedestrian Detection. The Driver Assist package also includes automatic seat belt tightening, Automatic Park Assist (self-parking system), Front and Rear Automatic Braking, and adaptive cruise control with full-range speed capabilities.
