PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY

The 2022 MKC comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 that produces 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The optional and more powerful 2.3-liter turbocharged I-4 pumps out 285 hp and 305 lb-ft. Both engines are paired to a six-speed automatic and are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Once fuel economy numbers are released, we will update this section. In Motor Trend testing, the 2015 MKC with the 2.3-liter and AWD hit 60 mph in a quick 6.5 seconds and stopped from 60 mph in 118 feet.

SAFETY

The 2018 Lincoln MKC received a four-star overall safety rating out of five stars from the NHTSA, and we hope the 2019 model improves to five stars. In IIHS testing, the 2018 MKC received the highest rating of Good in two conducted crash tests. The lowest rating of Basic was issued for front crash prevention because the 2018 model does not have emergency automatic braking. Once the 2022 MKC is tested with its new driver assist safety features, we will update this section. The available suite of driver assist safety feature includes emergency automatic braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep alert, and blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert. Front and rear parking sensors will also be available.

UTILITY (CARGO SPACE AND INTERIOR ROOM)

Figures have yet to be released but we expect cargo and legroom to be about the same as the pre-refresh 2017 and 2018 models. The 2017 MKC offers 25.2 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats up and 53.1 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Front and rear seat legroom is 42.8 and 36.8 inches, respectively. Behind the rear seats, the Lexus NX 300 has 17.7 cubic feet of cargo room but that grows to 54.6 cubic feet with the seats down. Legroom is almost identical, 42.8 inches in the front and 36.1 inches in the rear.
